Research:

During previous year was very successful Lee Howell, ex student of Edinburgh college and photographer and retoucher. He entered the competition with fashion and advertising images which are very well done and he is focusing for details. Lee was very successful this year in professional category with his set of 5 fashion images, they were studio shoot and edited to add plastic feel to them.

Sandra Vijandi was also very successful with her images in BIPP competition 2014. All were fashion images. The images from the winning set were taking on different locations. On Sandra’s images I like that she focuses on the models poses and I like how she uses colour palette.

Selection of Images for entering this competition:

I have chosen 3 of my favourite images which I did for the major project for last semester. From the research on the previous years’ winners I can see that BIPP competition is all about pretty, perfectly edited images. I like the winner images because of they colours and colour palette and I would also like to enter with with colour images. Selection of my 3 images are in fashion genre, but I am also thinking about submitting them on “Open” category. According my research, fashion genre in BIPP competition is more about images which we see in fashion magazines as Harpers Bazaar and Vogue and I would say that my selection will not fit in those magazines. Its a fashion portraiture edited in collage style so it would probably fit more in “open” category.

For the this unit I choose to submit the first image with the green leafs. I tried to achieve 3D effect on this image and that’s why I worked with different layers here and placing selection of images on the top of each other. I completed this collage for my major project and the theme was movie about Geisha and her life story.
