“Simplicity of the nature”

This project will be advertising campaign for the designer. I will shoot her collection in the studio, with two models. I want to keep the background simple, white or grey and photograph the clothes together with the props, hair accessories. I will be using natural material for the props, dry flowers or fresh flowers and  dry branches. I decide to use this type of props to add a nature feel and match with the materials and texture of the clothes. I want to call this project “simplicity of the nature”. I want to approach this in the modern and minimalistic style. I will achieve this by selecting natural looking models, soft lighting and minimalistic make up.

For this project I will get two agency standard models. One blond and one dark hair. The clothes is made for size 10 and size 12. I will also get MUA and hair stylist. The hair and make up will be natural to don’t over powers the clothing.

RESEARCH

Photography / Agnieszka Chabros
Stylist / Bridgette Hungerford
Model / Kayla Poole @ Chadwicks

During my research I found work of Agnieszka Chabros and I like he approach to the fashion photography. I like to combination of tho images in one and I want to do something similar. I like how she concentrates for details and she use different angles to show all sides of the clothes. I like how she used neutral colours as a background. There are lines in the background, sightly out of focus.

Diptych

For final presentation of the images I decided to do them as a diptych. I think this is very effective way how to show the product, in different angles in one image. This gives the viewer feel of reality which will help with buying this clothes.

Photography by Sarina Mailmen

I researched work by Sarina Meuleman. I like the using of simple background. There are also lines in background and I really like the lighting effect. Streams of light across the image or natural light on the background. I will simulate this with studio lighting. I also would like to use studio backdrops but I will shoot out of the backdrop area as well. This is to create the depth behind the model and give the image different feel. I will use studio lighting and work with soft light. I don’t want hard shadows. This selection of images covers different poses, different angles and different lighting effects which I think is very creative and shows photographers creativity and imagination. Variation of images shows different crops and different composition on each image.

Photographer David Sims, fashion editorial for Love Autumn/Winter 2015, clothes by Alexander McQueen

Photographes by David Sims inspired me for selection of my model. I like this edgy look and feel of the images. I also like the unusual angle and crop of the images here.

By David Sims, Yamamoto, Love magazine

Photographs by David Sims are studio images but because of the hair it looks like the is a wind or its shooter outdoor. I will try to achieve this in my images. This images are darker than I want to shoot and there is a shadow behind the model which I don’t like.

Editorial by Josh Olins for Vogue magazine

I’ve inspired by this editorial for this fashion advertising campaign. I like here using of flowers, branches together with the fashion portraiture. I will get the stylist for this shoot to help me with the styling of the flowers.

I like the styling of the flowers in models hair. I will use this idea in this project. My project is a studio shoot but I will use flowers in combination of props and branches.

I like this image, because the photographer made this original and interesting by the pose of the model and wearing the jacket unusual way. Like the selection of the model as well.

Equipment

I will use my camera Canon 5D mark ii, and combination of lenses 24-70 F2,8 and 70-200 F2,8. Studio lighting and soft boxes, go-bo and reflectors to reflect the light and also to block the light from some parts of images.

Editing

Post processing in Adobe Photoshop, using white balance, colouring by channels in curves and selective colours. Skin retouching and sharpening.

Evaluation

The photo shoot date was 10.11.2015. I’ve managed to book 2 models, stylist with an assistant, MUA and my assistant. Designer was also there on the day. Only problem I had was that the designer was little bit late, but before she came MUA did a make-up and me and my assistant were setting up the lights. Everything was very well organised and I was pleased with the result. I planned for the final presentation to use 6 images as 3 diptychs. I really like the combination of first two images of one model. michalaoborna-cpp2-1

There are more images I like but these two I think creates nice couple. I am very happy with the model and the poses.

I photographed two models separately and together.

I was directing both models for poses. With the second model I prefer images when she is looking into camera and with the first model I like images when she is looking away.

I took photos of them together which I really like but I find difficult to combine the to diptych with other images.

For final presentation I did 3 diptychs.
